What is Pilates?
Pilates is a method of exercise developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates, who he believed was a way of life and a path to total health, rather than merely a series of exercises.
Pilates not only offers a bridge between mind and body, between everyday life and optimal performance, between rehabilitation and healthy movement, it offers a system that, when used to its full potential, can enhance every aspect of life. It offers a solution to those with restricted mobility as well as to elite athletes.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who can do Pilates?
Pilates is for everyone, at any age. Pilates can be done as part of a healthy lifestyle, or just to help you move easier through your daily activities. Pilates can also assist with improving your performance in other sports, such as cycling, running, tennis, golf, horse riding (just to name a few). Additionally, Pilates can assist you with rehabilitation following an injury or an operation.
I don’t have any experience in Pilates. Can I just join any group class?
With or without any Pilates experience, we suggest that you start your journey with us with a 45 minute one-on-one assessment (ideally in the studio, but this can also be done online). This will allow you to do some of the fundamental Pilates exercises while we talk through your goals, and determine whether we need to customise any of the exercises for you specifically. Thereafter you can join group or private Pilates classes.
What do I need to bring along to class when joining in the studio?
Water, towels, mats and equipment are provided at the studio. Please wear comfortable clothes to do the exercises in. Classes can be done bare feet or in socks (no shoes are allowed on the mats).
What equipment do I need if I want to join classes online?
You of course need a comfortable mat to train on. We normally suggest a mat of at least 1cm thick. We also request that you have a Pilates ball, Pilates ring and a resistance band (at least 1.5 meters in length) at home when joining online classes. All of these can be bought from the studio, or we can recommend where you can get these on your own.
